Daniel DistanteLos Angeles, CAEnglish as a Foreign Language (EFL)/ IELTS / TOEFL Instructor
Greetings! My name is Daniel. I am a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated English as a Foreign Language teacher/tutor with two and a half years experience teaching adults and adolescent students of all English proficiency levels. I am TEFL/TESOL certified, and in addition I have an abundance of professional and self-directed training. I have taught a variety of sub-categories of the English language, including: academic, grammar, vocabulary, theme/function-based, IELTS and TOEFL exam preparation, pronunciation, conversational and business English. In the process of teaching I have acquired a wealth of resources, skills and experience, and as a result have constructed a very comprehensive, dynamic and efficient teaching system. Within this structure, students are granted the maximum participation and student-speaking time.
As for my curriculum, I thoroughly enjoy customizing lessons according to the specific objectives, interests and current proficiency level of each student. I typically guide students in engaging activities to help reinforce and clarify the lesson’s contents using practical, everyday speaking exercises. Some activities I like to use for these purposes are discussions on articles or videos, conversations, role-plays, debates, games and other creative activities. For practical purposes I prefer to dedicate class time to speaking practices primarily, while reserving more listening, reading and writing exercises as “homework” activities. It is my general belief that foreign language learning can and should be a fun and natural activity, utilizing language that is useful and practical.
Thank you so much for reading over my profile, and I hope to be accompanying you on your epic English language journey.
Best,
~ Daniel D.
